Elementary Option
Identified gifted and talented students in grades 2 - 4 are pulled out from the regular classroom one day a week. Students are picked up from their individual schools one day a week and transported to the GT Center where they receive GT services from teachers trained in Gifted Education. At the end of the day, students are transported back to their home schools before regular dismissal times. Gifted and Talented standards are taught during this time. These standards include: Research Skills, Creative Thinking Skills, Critical Thinking Skills, Logic, and the Affective Domain.
Curriculum Overview - Grades 2 - 4
Second Grade
Critical Thinking Skills - Students will put on their thinking caps as they attempt to solve different kinds of Logic Puzzles. This unit is designed to help students incorporate logical thinking and problem solving into their daily lives.
Ettiquette - "Manners are a sensitive awareness of the feelings of others." - Emily Post. During this core session, students will learn the best ways to conduct themselves in all social aspects.
Personal Growth Plan (PGP) - Self-Awareness and the Affective Domain are essential elements of gifted education. Through PGP, students explore their special talents and abilities in relation to the world around them and beyond.
Creative Thinking Skills - Creativity CAN BE taught, and that's what we are going to do! Through the development of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration, students' creative abilities will be enhanced.
Art Elements - A study of the seven elements of art that help us analyze, understand, and create any type of artwork. By using art pieces from the National Gallery of Art, student will identify the elements and how artists use them.
Multiple Intelligences - Students will investigate learning intelligences: linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, interpersonal, spatial, and naturalist.
National Treasures - Students will explore significant historic places, including the National Parks and Monuments in order to gain an understanding and appreciation of all our great nation has to offer.

Around the World with Cinderella – Did you know there are versions of Cinderella stories from almost every culture? Well, there are and our students will learn about so many of them while learning about the cultures from which these stories originated. Students will also explore the different continents and countries during this unit.
